HOUSTON, TX, UNITED STATES, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The U.S. Census Bureau released its Business Formation Statistics for July 2026 on August 12, 2026, reporting that seasonally adjusted business applications reached 578,926 nationwide, an increase of 8.1 percent compared to June 2026. The Census Bureau also projects that 29,959 of these applications will result in employer businesses with payroll tax liabilities within four quarters, an increase of 0.7 percent from the prior month.

The South continued to lead the regions with 257,650 applications, followed by the West with 141,947. The Midwest recorded 100,780, while the Northeast had 78,549. Retail trade was the one to watch, with applications jumping 44.5 percent from June. Professional services and real estate, on the other hand, both saw a slight decline compared with the previous month.
