New healthcare & enterprise technology categories, rankings for every AI-surfaced brand, interactive sorting, and real-time TOM Score Snapshots anchor the shift
NORTH CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — StudioNorth today expanded the TOM Index, its editorially independent ranking of B2B brand visibility, from four categories to nine. The expansion marks the Index’s next step: evolving from a Top 100 ranking into a market visibility signal that captures every brand surfaced in the research.
“Visibility isn’t a Top 100 contest. If an AI system surfaces your brand, that signal belongs in the market picture,” said Caroline DeVore, Executive Director of Growth and Innovation at StudioNorth. “Showing every surfaced brand makes category movement easier to see and gives marketing and sales leaders a clearer place to act.”
The expansion shows what that evolution looks like in practice. Five new categories extend the TOM Index across healthcare and enterprise technology markets where shortlists form early:
• Diagnostic Imaging
• Clinical Documentation
• Revenue Cycle
• Patient Engagement
• Enterprise Applications
The TOM Index no longer stops at the top 100 brands. Each category now displays every brand surfaced by the large language models (LLMs) in the research. Every surfaced brand appears by name with its composite TOM Score.
The expanded view also reveals when AI systems divide one brand family across multiple identities. In August Networking results, the HPE family appeared under six labels, including HPE, Aruba, HPE Aruba Networking, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The TOM Index reports those labels as surfaced, exposing identity fragmentation that conventional rankings can hide.
Real-time TOM Score Snapshots
New interactive sorting lets visitors explore each category from different angles. Each TOM Score Snapshot instantly displays a brand’s latest published rank and scores. It breaks out all five Top of Mind dimensions, three Top of Model dimensions, and comparisons with category leaders.
TOM stands for Top of Mind and Top of Model. Top of Mind measures how clearly people recognize, understand, trust, and choose a brand. Top of Model measures how accurately AI systems surface and compare a brand in buying-context prompts.
The TOM Index uses hundreds of buying-context prompts across Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. It combines those findings with publicly verifiable market signals to create each TOM Score.
No brand can pay to be included, ranked higher, or removed. StudioNorth applies the same method to client and non-client brands. That editorial independence keeps the TOM Index focused on how markets and models already interpret each brand.
In Solutions Providers, for example, WWT climbed from No. 10 in June to No. 3 in August, even as its Top of Mind score edged down from 78.33 to 76.67. Its Top of Model score nearly doubled, rising from 15.14 to 29.89. The entire increase in WWT’s composite TOM Score came from its AI visibility.
What comes next
StudioNorth will publish trend data and insights from market movers as the TOM Index evolves and new LLMs surface results. Those insights will highlight visibility shifts, category momentum, and the brands changing position. The rankings are regularly updated, and new categories will be added in healthcare and enterprise technology month by month.
