Mark Detwiler, principal engineer within Cornerstone Building Brands’ Metal Solutions business, accepts recognition for his induction into the 2026 Metal Construction News Hall of Fame from Melanie Kowal of Kenilworth Media.
“Mark’s induction into the Metal Construction News Hall of Fame is a reflection of a career defined by technical excellence, leadership and a deep commitment to advancing our industry,” said Matt Ackley, President of the Metal Solutions business unit at Cornerstone Building Brands. “His work has helped strengthen engineering standards and elevate metal construction as a trusted, high-performing building solution our customers can count on.”
Over the course of his career, Detwiler has contributed significantly to the advancement of structural engineering practices within the metal construction industry, with technical contributions spanning roof and wall systems, cold-formed steel members, metal panels, clips, anchorage and framing systems. These contributions have helped bridge the gap between research and real-world application while enhancing the reliability and performance of modern pre-engineered metal building systems, particularly in areas such as wind load and uplift resistance.
In addition to his technical contributions, Detwiler has played an active role in shaping industry standards through participation in leading organizations, including the Metal Building Manufacturers Association, American Society of Civil Engineers and American Iron and Steel Institute. His influence has helped guide the evolution of design methodologies, testing protocols and best practices used across the sector.
“I’m honored to be recognized alongside so many respected leaders in our industry,” said Detwiler. “This recognition reflects the collective efforts of the many colleagues, partners and organizations I’ve had the privilege to work with throughout my career.”
The Metal Construction News Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have demonstrated sustained impact on the industry through innovation, integrity and leadership. Detwiler joins a distinguished group of professionals whose contributions have helped shape the future of metal construction.
“Mark’s expertise and collaborative approach have had a meaningful impact not only within Cornerstone Building Brands, but across the industry as a whole,” added Ackley. “We are fortunate to have his leadership and technical perspective within our Metal Solutions business, and we’re proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition.”
